The Cairo-based club's assistant coach Mohamed Nagy, famously known as Gedo, has shed light on the club's decision to hand the managerial reins to the South African tactician. Following his recent departure from Libyan outfit Al Ittihad Tripoli, the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss has quickly found a new home with the ambitious Egyptian club.

Days of speculation were put to bed when the Egyptian giants Pyramids FC unveiled the 39-year-old South African as their new head coach. Rumours that the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss was dissatisfied with his lot at Libyan big spenders Al Ittihad SC had been circulating for several weeks and it was no surprise when almost immediately after his departure was announced, the Cairo based club made an announcement of their own.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss is reportedly on the verge of a sensational return to the summit of African football, with Pyramids FC closing in on his signature and offering a massive salary incentive for the 39-year-old and his technical staff.
