  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with the services of Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele in the past seasons.

The 30-year-old recently played a vital role in helping his team eliminate Orlando Pirates from the Caf Champions League semi-final.

The two teams had played to a goalless draw in the first leg before Mayele scored a brace in the second leg to help the Egyptian team beat Bucs 3-2.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

When Nabi joined Chiefs, he desperately wanted to sign Mayele from Pyramids, but things didn't work out.

Ranga Chivaviro, Ashley du Preez and recently Tashreeq Morris have been struggling to make an impact in the final third.

Coach Gavin Hunt believes Amakhosi will be a tough team to beat if they break the bank for Mayele.

The former SuperSport United tactician has further explained why Amakhosi need him.

    WHAT HUNT SAID

“I think Fiston Mayele could be a 30-goal striker in the PSL. He’s not involved in all the touches on the pitch, he just plays in the box,” the 60-year-old told SoccerBeat.

“So, if you give him the service, he will score goals on his own by his movements, strength, and power.

"He’s very good at hitting the target; that’s why I think he’s a 30-goal striker," Hunt continued.

“He’s 30 years of age, but there are teams in the PSL that don’t look for a long-term solution, but a short-term solution. With the goals Mayele can score, Kaizer Chiefs will win the treble," he concluded.
