Winners & losers: Kaizer Chiefs’ midfield maestro Nkosingiphile Ngcobo impresses, while Brandon Petersen makes crucial save but coaching decisions spark debate as Amakhosi reach CAF Confederation Cup second round

Trailing by a goal after their first-leg defeat in Angola, Kaizer Chiefs returned home knowing everything was on the line in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.

The first half was one-way traffic, with Amakhosi dominating possession and creating chances. Their pressure paid off five minutes before halftime when Kabuscorp goalkeeper Anselmo Mweni parried Dillon Solomons’ shot into the path of Glody Lilepo, who rifled home a first-time finish.

With no goals in the second half, the aggregate score remained 1-1, sending the match to penalties, where Chiefs held their nerve to clinch a 5-3 shootout victory and book their place in the second round of the continental competition.
