Kaizer Chiefs have started preparations for the upcoming season and were at Naturena on Friday.

Among the players was a new face in left-back Kabelo Nkgwesa, who was turning out for Amakhosi's DStv Diski Challenge side last season.

This comes as the Soweto giants are looking for a left-back following the departure of Edmilson Dove and the reported imminent exit of Bongani Sam.

The Soweto giants will be hoping their early reporting for pre-season training will give them ample time to prepare for the new season.

Unlike last term when all their focus was on domestic responsibilities, even minus the MTN8, the Soweto giants will also have the Caf Confederation Cup to give attention to this season.

That increases the need for coach Nasreddine Nabi to sign high-quality players to match the demanding nature of continental football.

After releasing DDC players like captain Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi and midfielder Sihle Tati, it is to be seen which reserve side player will join Nkwesa in the first team.

The next few days could be interesting as Chiefs are expected to announce their new players.

That would be before they begin their pre-season tour of the Netherlands, which starts on July 3.
