He becomes the first South African to win the Tunisian top-flight title and has achieved that in his first stint since he joined the former African champions before the season began.
This is Mokwana's second trophy with Esperance, who were eliminated by Mamelodi Sundowns in the Caf Champions League at the quarter-final, since he had won the Super Cup on February 16. Indeed, he scored in that cup final game against Stade Tunisien, where they emerged 2-0 winners.
Before he moved north, Mokwana was heavily linked with Kaizer Chiefs, who were interested in his services. He signed for Esperance, became one of the regular starters, and is now a champion.
With Chiefs expected to rebuild the playing unit, eyes will be keen to see whether the 25-year-old will be among the new recruits. Recently, he revealed he is an Amakhosi fan and did not entirely rule out signing for them one day.
