    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs reserve side forward Naledi Hlongwane has been added to the Amajita squad for the 2025 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations finals.

The tournament, to be hosted by Egypt, runs from April 27 to May 18 as Raymond Mdaka's boys are pushing to qualify got the Fifa Under-20 World Cup.

Amajita are already in Egypt and Hlongwane was captured together with the rest of the squad after they touched down in Cairo.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Initially named as one of the players on standby, Hlongwane has now muscled his way into the South Africa Under-20 final squad.

That means Chiefs now have five players in Mdaka's squad and that could complicate Amakhosi's bid for the DStv Diski Challenge title.

Losing Hlongwane who is the reserve league's top scorer with 12 goals could be a big blow for Amakhosi who are a point clear at the top of the table with second-placed Stellenbosch hot on their heels.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Amakhosi are left with three games before they conclude their DDC campaign ends and they need two wins to be confirmed champions.

They host struggling Magesi FC on Sunday, a match they would not want to feel the absence of their stars.
