    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs are on the verge of winning the DStv Diski Challenge title following a 3-1 win over Richards Bay at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday.

Amakhosi were propelled to the win courtesy of goals from Hendricks, Neo Bohloko, and Naledi Hlongwane. The goal for Hlongwane means he has now scored 12 goals in the season.

Elsewhere, Mamelodi Sundowns emerged victorious over Orlando Pirates following a 1-0 victory at Isak Steyl Stadium. Although Sundowns defeated Bucs, they are out of league contention now as Amakhosi go close to their maiden title.

SuperSport United had a rough day as they went down to a 6-1 loss to Marumo Gallants in Bloemfontein.

Cape Town City and Sekhukhune United shared points following a goalless draw, whereas Chippa United and Magesi FC also shared points as they registered a 2-2 draw in their respective match.

Golden Arrows defeated Polokwane City 2-1.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Despite the win, Chiefs are looking over their shoulders, given the pressure Stellenbosch are applying on them. Amakhosi have 61 points, one more than Stellies, although the former have played one fewer game.

Sundowns are third with 54 points, while Pirates, after 27 games, have 47 points and are fourth.

At the bottom sits Chippa United, who have only managed two wins from 26 games and have gathered just 13 points in the process. Magesi are 14th with 18 points, while Polokwane City are just above Magesi because of a superior goal difference.
