    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Davis Morwaswi was among the scorers as Amajita registered another victory over Botswana in a friendly match played on Tuesday at UJ Soweto Campus.

The 4-1 win means Amajita achieved a double over their neighbours following a previous 6-0 victory on Saturday last week.

Although coach Raymond Mdaka made changes to the starting XI, Amajita were dominant and scored the opening goal in the 19th minute when Stellenbosch's Langelihle Phili found the back of the net.

Botswana fought back, and in the 27th minute, Oteng Aphiri equalized for them.

South Africa maintained their attacking tempo and regained their lead in the 31st minute when SuperSport United's striker, Siviwe Magidigidi scored. Just before the halftime break, the lead was extended by Kaizer Chiefs' Morwaswi, who found the back of the net in the 45th minute.

In the second half, Mdaka's charges were as ambitious as they were in the first half. Cape Town City's Shakeel April scored in the 78th minute, sealing another victory for South Africa.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kaizer Chiefs' fans should be motivated by the performance of their players for Amajita. In the previous friendly, Mfundo Vilakazi, who also started in the second game, scored a brace.

This is further welcome news for the Amakhosi faithful after their club failed to produce even a single player for Bafana Bafana during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.
