    WHAT HAPPENED?

Siyabonga Nomvethe made a name for himself in Mzansi owing to his ruthlessness in front of the goal.

He played for Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and of course the national team Bafana Bafana.

The 47-year-old further represented Udinese, Empoli, Djurgarden, Aab among other teams.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Apart from Chiefs and Pirates, Nomvethe also played for Swallows, Uthongathi, and AmaZulu - in South Africa.

It means he came against top goalkeepers who had massive experience in the game, but he always delivered.

However, it was not easy playing against Amakhosi legend Itumeleng Khune.

    WHAT NOMVETHE SAID

“There are many, but the only one goalkeeper that I didn’t exactly hit properly, one who had some serious luck is [Itumeleng] Khune,” he told iDiski Times.

“Khune is the only one I haven’t hit properly. He is the only one; the rest I have hit them properly.

I’d look then and think this was one. Once I get the ball, he is going to leak in goals," Nomvethe concluded.
