    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates boss Irvin Khoza was re-elected as PSL chairman unopposed on Wednesday.

As he was elected, he gave Kaizer Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung a R2 million gift.

Richards Bay boss Jomo Biyela has reacted to Khoza's gesture towards his Amakhosi opposite number.

    WHAT BIYELA SAID

“Well, it’s not for me, I can’t say where is that money coming from but what I know is that even if it comes from the league, he [Motaung] has served the league very well,” said Biyela as per KickOff.

“He is one of the founding members of the League. Looking at the time that he has spent with the League since its inception, so really there is no amount of money that can match his contribution and his effort in changing the lives of footballers in this country.

“He deserves it and we really appreciate the gesture by the chairman to honour him while he is still alive.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Ironically, Khoza was re-elected PSL chairman for another term on a day Safa president Danny Jordaan appeared in curt on charges of fraud.

The Pirates boss will clock 25 years at the helm of the PSL if he manages to finish the new four-year term.

This comes as Jordaan is being accused of overstaying as Safa president outside the legal problems he is facing.

    WHAT NEXT FOR THE PSL?

It is to be seen if the PSL will remain as a competitive league under Khoza's continued term.

Local teams have not only been supplying players to Bafana Bafana but also trying to dominate in continental competitions.
