Pitso Mosimane: Ex-Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach joins Iranian Persian Gulf Pro League giants Esteghlal ahead of clash with Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr

<p>Esteghlal FC announced that Pitso Mosimane has joined the club on a one-year deal after the team succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to Zob Ahan on Friday in an Iranian Persian Gulf Pro League match under the guidance of caretaker coach Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh. </p><p>Mosimane will be returning to football club management for the first time since he left Saudi Arabian outfit Abha in May following the team's relegation from the Roshn Pro League.</p><p>Jingles, who will bring <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/ex-orlando-pirates-coach-palacios-explains-why-kaizer-chiefs-cannot-hire-pitso-mosimane-he-is-like-jose-mourinho-not-cheap/bltdcb07a7e9ec0138d" target="_blank">his own technical team</a>, has succeeded Javad Nekounam after the Iranian coach parted ways with Esteghlal earlier this month due to the team's poor start to the current season.</p>

MOSIMANE'S AGENCY CONFIRM APPOINTMENT 

<p>Esteghlal are currently placed 10th in a 16-team Persian Gulf Pro League standings having collected just nine points from their first eight matches including three defeats and two wins.</p><p>The Capital Blues are one of Iran's biggest football clubs, having won nine Persian Gulf Pro League titles, a joint-record seven Hazfi Cups, and two AFC Champions League trophies. The Tehran-based side have brought in Mosimane in a bid to change the team's fortunes.</p><p>The three-time Caf Champions League title-winning coach is following in the footsteps of former Bafana Bafana international Ayanda Patosi, who spent the second round of the 2018/19 season on loan from Cape Town City at Esteghlal.</p>

<p>Esteghlal's next match is against Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr in an AFC Champions League match in Dubai, UAE on Tuesday. </p><p>Mosimane is familiar with Al-Nassr having faced the Saudi Arabian giants during his time with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/cristiano-ronaldo-menace-pitso-mosimane-suffers-biggest-loss--career-in-abha-thumping-al-nassr/blt72b5d00485810866" target="_blank">Abha who succumbed to a heavy defeat in April</a>.</p><p></p>
