Orlando Pirates' Relebohile Mofokeng and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams nominated for Sports Personality Award at 2024 Gauteng Sports Awards

Orlando Pirates' standout player Relebohile Mofokeng and Mamelodi Sundowns' talented goalkeeper Ronwen Williams have both received nominations for the prestigious Sports Personality Award at the 2024 Gauteng Sports Awards.

Mofokeng has been performing exceptionally well for the Buccaneers, while Williams has been shining for the Brazilians. Moreover, they have been significantly contributing to Hugo Broos's team's success.

The GSA recently revealed the nominees for the 2024 awards, with the two Premier Soccer League players making the final list alongside competitors from various other sporting codes.

Mofokeng and Williams are in contention for the accolade alongside star runner Akani Simbine, mixed martial artist Dricus Du Plessis, and swimmer Tatjana Smith.

2024 has been an exciting year for Williams as he received international recognition when he was nominated for the Yachine Trophy at the 2024 2024 Ballon d’Or awards.

The 32-year-old captain of the South African national football team has also received nominations for Caf Player of the Year, Caf Goalkeeper of the Year, as well as Caf Interclub Player of the Year in the Caf awards.

Meanwhile, Mofokeng has already secured the 2024 MTN8 title with the Sea Robbers and played a key role in guiding Pirates to the group stages of the Caf Champions League.

The esteemed Gauteng Sports Awards ceremony, hosted by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, is scheduled to take place on November 24, 2024.

Fans are encouraged to cast their vote for their preferred choice. The voting line will be closing on the 24th of this month. Williams and Mofokeng will be hoping to receive the award at the upcoming ceremony.
