    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs ended their trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup after beating Orlando Pirates in the final.

The Buccaneers finished second in the Premier Soccer League after winning the MTN8 early in the season.

While Amakhosi will be taking part in the Caf Confederation Cup, Bucs will be playing in the Caf Champions League in the 2025/26 edition.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Just like last season, Bucs will be competing in MTN8, Carling Knockout, Nedbank Cup, PSL and the Caf Champions League.

It explains why they need depth in all departments to deliver effectively across all competitions.

Chiefs are struggling to make the top eight, but are already assured of defending their Nedbank Cup crown and the aforementioned domestic tournaments, and of course, Africa's second-tier tourney.

One player who has been linked with a move to either Pirates or Chiefs is Marumo Gallants midfielder Masindi Nemtajela.

The 22-year-old has played 16 games with a goal and an assist in the process.

    WHAT REPORTS SAID

"An agreement in principle has been reached between the player and Pirates. The Buccaneers have reportedly tabled a five-year deal for Nemtajela, with the player anticipated to sign in the coming days, pending his camp’s review of the offer," FARPost reported.

"Amakhosi did express interest in the Bafana Bafana international; however, they were unable to present a compelling enough offer to secure Nemtajela’s signature.

"Sources indicate that in recent days, the Glamour Boys attempted to sway the player to Naturena from their rivals, Pirates, but ultimately fell short of matching the Sea Robbers’ offer. While Sekhukhune United and Stellenbosch FC also made inquiries about Nemtajela, the battle for his signature ultimately came down to the two Soweto giants," they concluded.

Chiefs management confirmed they will sign players next season to help coach Nasreddine Nabi have an easy time on the pitch.

The Soweto giants have relied heavily on their youngsters this season, explaining why they will be adding some experience.
