The 24-year-old striker was linked with a transfer to the Premier Soccer League powerhouse Kaizer Chiefs as Nasreddine Nabi's team sought to bolster their attacking options during the ongoing transfer window.

"Universidad Católica de Murcia Club de Fútbol has reached an agreement with Rubén del Campo Ferreiras (Fribourg, 2000) to join the university discipline until the summer of 2026," De Murcia stated.

"The forward arrives at the Club after his time at Atlético Ottawa, a team in the Canadian Premier League, where he has scored 14 goals in 33 games.

"From the Club, we welcome him and wish him the best of luck in this new stage with the UCAM Murcia CF shirt."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Before Campo's signing with Murcia CF, it was reported that he held discussions with Chiefs and had come to an agreement regarding personal terms, as he appeared to be on the verge of joining the club.

However, on Tuesday morning, reports surfaced suggesting that Nabi and his coaching staff opted not to proceed with signing the former Atlético Ottawa star.

The Soweto giants are desperately in need of fresh strikers to enhance Nabi's striking department, which currently includes Ranga Chivaviro, Wandile Duba, and Ashley Du Preez.
