New wheels for Relebohile Mofokeng! Orlando Pirates star set to receive brand new car from Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation

Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng was named the Gauteng Sport Awards Personality of the Year winner by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in November 2024.

In romping to that gong, he had beaten former African 100m record holder Akani Simbine, UFC champion Dricus Du Plessis, two-time Olympic champion Tatjana Smith and his Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams.

Now the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation is set to reward him with a car.

"Gauteng Sport Awards Personality of the Year winner, Relebohile Mofokeng will receive his prize of a brand-new car handed over by MEC Matome Chiloane," a statement read.

"The biggest winner of the 2024 Awards, Mofokeng, will be presented with the vehicle tomorrow, Tuesday, 11 February 2025, courtesy of the sponsors, Joma Sport, at Bidwest McCarthy VW Westgate in Roodepoort."

The year 2024 was a memorable year for Mofokeng who broke into the Bafana Bafana fold last June.

That was followed by the Gauteng Sport Awards in November as he continued to underline his image as a competitive sportsman in South Africa.

Then the Gauteng Sport Awards accolade was not the only one he received after being named the 2024 GQ South Africa Sportsperson of the Year in December.

The youngster has been one of Pirates' key players this season and that has sparked transfer rumours of going to Europe.

It is to be seen if he will manage to move in the next transfer window with La Liga giants FC Barcelona being mentioned.
