    Marriage coming to an end

    The South African Football Association will not renew their Le Coq Sportif partnership when their contract expires in December.

    French sportswear brand Le Coq Sportif has been SAFA's technical sponsor since 2000. 

    But the two parties' marriage will not go beyond 2025, according to the local football governing body.

    Confirmation from SAFA

    “Our relationship started with many challenges but inspired a lot of on-field success for all our national teams, specifically our senior teams, Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana," said SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao. 

    "We want to thank Le Coq Sportif for the partnership and we wish them well in their future endeavours.”

    Spruced up Bafana & Banyana Banyana reputation

    Wth Bafana Bafana having qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, there could be some sports apparel companies lining up to replace Le Coq Sportif.  

    That comes with the brand Bafana having been spruced up by qualification for the World Cup, as other South African national teams have also been doing well. 

    The Under-20s have just returned from the 2025 FIFA World Cup in Chile, while Banyana Banyana have been to the global tournament of women's football.

    What comes next?

    As Le Coq Sportif end their partnership with SAFA, it remains to be seen if they will design a new kit for Bafana to used at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.  

    Also, fans would be anxious to see who will replace Le Coq Sportif as SAFA's new technical sponsor.
