    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi remains resolute despite the team's recent challenges, refusing to single out any players for blame and asserting that even a new striker could not solve the club's current problems.

Amakhosi have been unable to collect positive results recently and have struggled to maintain consistency since the Tunisian coach's arrival in July 2024.

Chiefs began the year 2025 with a disappointing defeat against Cape Town City on Sunday, however, following the game, Nabi insisted no player should be blamed.

    WHAT NABI SAID

"It's obvious when you look at the squad that we feel there is a need to strengthen the team, but we don't want to throw our players under the bus saying that they are not good," Nabi told journalists.

"No, they are good, today they are in our squad, they are in our team but every transfer window we will take the opportunity to try to strengthen the team.

"The club is working hard to find the best opportunities that are possible and we hope that everything can improve our squad. We don't feel that the [new] striker can resolve all the issues that we have been having in the final third," he added.

"The first thing is for every player to step up, to be more calm when we get into those situations to make better decisions and make more movement to support the play. The striker can give more opportunities and something more, but he can't resolve everything."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chiefs acquired seven players following Nabi's arrival, including former Mamelodi Sundowns standout Gaston Sirino, but all those players have seemingly struggled to live up to expectations.

Nabi has been vocally urging the Soweto giants' management to strengthen his squad to alter the club's fortunes, but that has yet to happen, with the January transfer window now open.

The Glamour Boys currently find themselves in seventh place in the PSL standings, having earned 15 points from 11 matches. They have lost four games, drawn three, and achieved four victories.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Chiefs are interested in players such as Polokwane City standout player Oswin Appollis and Pyramids' Fiston Mayele amongst other quality talents.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Naturena-based giants will be willing to open the purse strings to acquire players preferred by Nabi.

Amakhosi will aim to return to winning form when they face the challenging Stellenbosch FC at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday, January 08.
