Former Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral denies Kaizer Chiefs chance to get into PSL top-four as Cape Town City humble Nasreddine Nabi's side

Following a goalless first half at Cape Town Stadium, Darwin Gonzalez got to the end of a counter-attack to fire past Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma and give Cape Town City the lead six minutes into the second half.

It was the Venezuelan's first league goal of the season as he separated the two teams.

Chiefs were found wanting especially in the middle of the park and upfront where there was no connection between midfielders and forwards.

City technical director and head coach Muhsin Ertugral enjoyed a good day in office as he haunted his former paymasters to win 1-0 in his first PSL job in six years.

The result left Amakhosi seventh on the table while the Citizens moved one place from the 12th spot to number 11.

Going into Sunday's match, Amakhosi had not won the first game of the year in seven years.

But they extended that discouraging record which reflects the bigger picture of their struggles.

City midfielder Jaedin Rhodes might have not scored or provided an assist but he was outstanding.

The 21-year-old was a third in the flesh of Chiefs players during the 66 minutes he was on the pitch.

Chiefs' season is getting worse under coach Nasreddine Nabi who is struggling to improve the Soweto giants' situation and their chances of challenging for the PSL title now look very slim.

Some Amakhosi fans might even argue that they see no difference between Nabi and other coaches like Stuart Baxter, Arthur Zwane and Molefi Ntseki who have taken charge of Chiefs in recent seasons.

Cape Town City have another Soweto giant Orlando Pirates lined up for them in their next match on Wednesday and the victory over Chiefs was a big boost ahead of this game.

It will be their third consecutive league match at home.

On the same day, Amakhosi host tricky Strellenbosch at FNB Stadium as they seek to pick themselves up.
