    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has spoken highly of Gaston Sirino after the club's emphatic 4-0 victory over SuperSport United on Saturday.

Sirino tormented Matsatsantsa's defence with his movements and passes. He scored and grabbed an assist to help Amakhosi progress to the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout.

The 33-year-old's impressive displays, not only against SuperSport but since joining the club, left Nabi lavishing praise on him.

    WHAT NABI SAID

"It’s true that Sirino has helped us today and we thank him for that, but today, he was a player that was not at his maximum fitness because he’s coming from an injury," Nabi told reporters.

"He hasn’t trained a lot in the last few days, but he showed character, he showed that he can make a difference sometimes.

"But as well that’s why we changed him because we were fully aware that he was not at his full capacity," he added.

"And we can promise that if Sirino gets back to his full fitness, you will see more from him, and we think that the younger players can learn a lot from him."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sirino joined Chiefs before the season started after he was released by Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of the 2023/2024 campaign.

The dribbling wizard has been phenom in Nabi's team having scored two goals and registered three assists in all competitions so far.

Amakhosi have so far lost one game in the league. They have accumulated six points from three games, in which Sirino made a huge contribution.
