    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs forward Ranga Chivaviro has managed to score five goals in 20 appearances across all competitions this season.

That has left Nasreddine Nabi unhappy with his forward's contribution as Amakhosi are struggling for consistency this term.

The Tunisian trainer has identified what the problem is with Chivaviro and urges the striker to work on his mentality

    WHAT NABI SAID

“About Ranga to play for a team like Kaizer Chiefs you need to have a big mental, you need to have mindset,” Nabi said as per iDiski Times.

“It’s a team that has a lot of fans which means the criticism comes very easily. That’s why you need to be very strong mentally, even when you are at your lowest.

“You need to stay focused; you need to stay mentally very strong, and we know that Ranga is getting that you need to have a strong mentality to play in this kind of teams."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

This is not the first time for Nabi to challenge Chivaviro on the same issue, having told the striker to "fix his attitude" at the end of 2024.

But it seems the former Marumo Gallants forward is yet to heed the calls from his coach.

That could affect him as his contract is set to expire in June 2025 and as it stands, Nabi might not push for the club to trigger the one season extension option of his current deal.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

After beating Magesi in a Premier Soccer League match on Tuesday, Chiefs now switch attention to the Nedbank Cup.

They would be hoping that league victory will inspire them when they meet Stellenbosch in their Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.

The cup presents the last opportunity for Chiefs to break their near-decade long trophy drought as they are currently 27 points off the top of the league table with a single game in hand over log leaders Mamelodi Sundons.
