    WHAT NABI SAID

"We believe that the national coach was not here only for Sirino because in SuperSport and Kaizer Chiefs, there are many players who play in Bafana Bafana and those are his players,” Nabi said, per iDiski Times.

"If Sirino was part of the players he came to observe, unfortunately, it was not a good day for him to show his value because he’s been injured all week.

"He trained once this week, we wanted to start him to see what he can give us," he added.

"But we were very aware that he was not fully fit, but if he is fully fit, we feel he deserves to play for Bafana Bafana."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sirino has never represented Uruguay in international competitions and as per Fifa rules, and the period he has spent in South Africa, he is eligible to represent Bafana Bafana.

The dribbling wizard became a permanent resident of the country after spending more than five years in the Premier Soccer League - having joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018.

He joined the Soweto giants after parting ways with the Brazilians at the end of last season and he has become a top performer in Nabi's team.
