    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral feels the Soweto giants do not have quality players as in the past but believes they have improved under Nasreddine Nabi.

Amakhosi have been struggling to bring old glory days back but Ertugral views the improvement as an achievement on its own although he warns there is still a long way for a full revival.

    WHAT ERTUGRAL SAID

“They don’t have these Thabo Mookis, Dr Khumalos, Shabalalas, Letsholonyane,” Ertugral told iDiski Times.

“They were players that can control the game at any given time. They don’t have that. There’s a lot of youngsters.

“But for me, I’m amazed with the way how he set up his team, defensively structure, offensively structure, the standard situations are actually good," added the Turk.

“For this short time, I must say that is a great achievement. You can see there is an improvement, but they will not be Real Madrid overnight. It will take time.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

While Ertugral seem to be defending Nabi's youngsters, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi feels the Tunisian is putting too much load on the starlets.

Chiefs players appeared to have gained confidence in their opening two matches of the season and it gave hope that their struggles could be nearing an end.

But they have relapsed in recent games, making their fans fear that the demons of recent seasons are back to haunt them.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Following elimination from the Carling Knockout by Mamelodi Sundowns, Amakhosi went into a long break and return to competitive action in a PSL match against Richards Bay.

It is a home match they hope to win and arrest a three-match winless run in the league.
