    WHAT HAPPENED?

Free Agents FC midfielder Thulani Dhladhla strongly believes that his team can triumph over Kaizer Chiefs when the two teams clash in the 2025 Nedbank Cup Round of 32 match.

The Soweto giants head to this highly-anticipated clash knowing that they have fallen victim to giant killing upsets in recent years in the same competition.

Even though Agents enter the game as the less-favoured side, the club's midfielder is convinced that the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League team has a chance to cause an upset against Chiefs.

    WHAT WAS SAID

"I would say everyone at the club is excited that we are playing against Kaizer Chiefs, and personally, I am excited because I think it’s everyone’s dream to play against bigger clubs like Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns," Dhladhla told reporters.

"So I think they are excited and if they are feeling the way that I’m feeling, they will be really looking forward to this match and they are starting to prepare for it.

"When you put it like that, I think the fixture favours us because if they are a team that has a history of losing against lower division clubs, it means we have a good chance of winning against them."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chiefs have previously faced defeats against Baroka FC, TS Galaxy, and Richards Bay FC when they were participating in the National First Division a few years back in the Nedbank Cup.

Additionally, the 13-time Nedbank Cup Champions were eliminated from the same tournament by Milford FC in the latest edition, who are currently in the second division, and this time they will hope to win this match to satisfy their fans.

This will mark new Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi's first Nedbank Cup experience, having joined the Naturena-based team at the start of the season.

    WHAT NEXT?

Chiefs will be determined to avoid the same outcome they faced against lower division teams in the past.

The two sides will be looking to advance to the last 16 as they face each other at the FNB Stadium on Sunday, January 26.
