  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Kay, who has served the club since 1995, is set to be laid off as the Sir Jim Ratcliffe-led INEOS group plan to axe 100 employees further as part of their cost-cutting process, according to The Times. Hailing from a United-supporting family, Kay first assumed the role of executive assistant to David Gill, the club's former chief executive. She then took charge of first-team logistics and has performed that role for more than a decade.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The terms of her termination have not been agreed upon yet but the report claims that she has been informed of the decision which is part of a wider performance overhaul, overseen by INEOS head of sport, Sir Dave Brailsford, and the technical director, Jason Wilcox. The staff are reportedly unhappy with Kay's departure, as she had 'given her life to the club'.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Cost-cutting started last year when Ratcliffe took the ruthless decision to terminate legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson's multi-million-pound contract as the club's global ambassador, effective from the 2025-26 season. In January, club legends like Bryan Robson, Denis Irwin and Andy Cole, who serve as global ambassadors for the Red Devils, saw their salaries slashed significantly.
