    WHAT HAPPENED?

Khuliso Mudau has been one of the most outstanding players at Mamelodi Sundowns, especially at right-back.

In the 2024/25 season, the 30-year-old has played 32 games across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the process.

Mudau, who was linked with English side Burnley last year, is also Bafana Bafana's first-choice at right-back owing to his commitment regardless of the competition.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mudau signed an initial five-year deal with Sundowns when he joined from Black Leopards in 2020.

However, the contract will expire at the end of June, but the Premier Soccer League champions have an option of extending it by a year.

In the past, Mudau has been linked with a move abroad, a move that might not materialise owing to his age.

Potentially, Masandawana might lose Mudau after the Club World Cup if a solution is not reached, as hinted by his agent, Steve Kapeluschnik.

    WHAT KAPELUSCHNIK SAID

"We have been negotiating for some time now but we haven't found each other yet on a new deal. There is no agreement on a new contract yet," he told SNL24.

  • WHAT NEXT?

Mudau is expected to play a vital role for Sundowns in the Club World Cup, which starts on June 14 in the United States.

The involved parties can then have a meeting and work on their engagement terms ahead of another busy 2025/26 campaign.
