    WHAT HAPPENED?

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has revealed that attacker Abubaker Nasir has gone AWOL just four months after he arrived at the club.

The 24-year-old forward joined Matsatsantsa on a one-year loan deal from Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in October last year.

However, after SuperSport's defeat to Polokwane City on Friday, an exasperated Hunt announced that Nasir left the club without notifying anyone.

    WHAT HUNT SAID

"I don't know where he is. I have not seen him for two weeks, so I don't know where he is," Hunt said, per KickOff.com

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Nassir, who was regarded as a valuable addition to Hunt's squad due to his talent and skills when he signed, has yet to make his debut for SuperSport.

His inappropriate behaviour could lead to repercussions ahead of a potential return to Sundowns, a team he joined in January 2022 from Ethiopia Bunna SC.

This unexpected action by the dribbling wizard occurs during a challenging period for the Spartans, who have faced ups and downs since the 2024/25 season began.

    WHAT NEXT?

It remains uncertain whether this is an attempt by Nassir to force a move away from SuperSport or if it is merely a fitness issue or a personal problem.

The Tshwane giants will be back in action when they take on Magesi FC in the Nedbank Cup last 32 match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on January 28.
