    WHAT HAPPENED?

Katlego Otladisa has been an Orlando Pirates player since the beginning of last season, joining the Buccaneers from Marumo Gallants.

But he has struggled for playing time, triggering transfer rumours around him with his contract set to expire in June 2026.

His agent Nimrod Mbhalati has confirmed interest in the player with some clubs willing to take him on loan as the January player transfer window approaches.

    WHAT MBHALATI SAID

“I’m yet to sit down with Orlando Pirates management and find solutions regarding this situation, and it’s highly unlikely for that meeting to happen now because, obviously, the window period is closed,” Mbhalati from Nida Sports Agency told FARPost.

“So, let’s wait and see what will happen when the time for the meeting is right. But yes, there is interest in the boy from a few clubs, and it’s also evident that he’s not playing.

“He is at an age where he should be getting more minutes, but we will cross that bridge when we get there. The boy is strong, and we support him together with his family; they are very supportive. I personally talk to him daily, and he is positive and working hard.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Otladisa is yet to get any playing minutes this season and has just been an unused substitute in a Premier Soccer League match against SupetrSport United.

With Pirates still chasing glory on the league front as well as Nedbank Cup and the Caf Champion Leaguer, Otladisa could be hoping to get some playing time when coach Jose Riveiro starts resting some players due to fatigue.

He is in a Pirates central midfield that includes the likes of Karim Kimvuidi, Kabelo Dlamini, Relebohile Mofokeng, Selaelo Rasebotja and Thalente Mbatha who have all been playing some role in the current campaign.

    WHAT NEXT FOR PIRATES?

Following Tuesday's 1-0 league victory over Richards Bay that guarantees them top of the log for the international break, Pirates now will have a long wait until competitive action resumes.

They return on November 26 with a trip to CR Belouizdad for a Caf Champions League assignment.
