    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have reacted to news that they have been offered a chance to sign former Orlando Pirates star Gabadinho Mhango.

The Malawian is expected to be confirmed as a new player for Richards Bay, although some rumours had it that he had been offered to Amakhosi.

  • HERE IS CHIEFS' RESPONSE

Responding to an update that Mhango has signed for the Natal Richards Bay and that they have missed him, Chiefs asked in a sarcastic style whether the author of the reports had indeed offered Mhango to them.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Richards Bay are expected to be Mhango's new workstation going into the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League season.

Recently, Richards Bay's chairman, Sfiso Jomo Biyela, revealed that they have signed the Malawian, who shone in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals, on a two-year deal.

Mhango's exploits in the 2021 Afcon edition in Cameroon included two goals he netted to give Malawi a 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, Mhango's acquisition is understood to be driven by Richards Bay's desire to get experienced players to help them compete and finish in the top eight in the PSL.

The Malawian, who was released after being part of the Marumo Gallants set-up for one season, is expected to fill the void that will be left by Yanela Mbuthuma, who has been linked with Orlando Pirates.
