  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    On Friday, Kaizer Chiefs confirmed reaching an agreement with Libyan club, Al-Ittihad for the transfer of defender, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.

    The 26-year-old was just into his second season at the Soweto giants after his free transfer from SuperSport United.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Last season, Ditlhokwe played 21 games for the club across all competitions as Amakhosi finished 10th in the Premier Soccer League.

    In the ongoing edition, the 26-year-old played 11 games for his team across all competitions, providing two assists.

    The North African outfit reportedly paid the Soweto giants $850,000 - approximately R16 million for the Zebras captain.

    Motaung Jr. has since justified the logic behind the Glamour Boys' decision to let the defender leave.

    WHAT MOTAUNG JR. SAID

    “It was not an easy decision for us when Al-Ittihad approached us regarding TT,” Amakhosi Sporting Director said as quoted by the club's media team.

    “We engaged the player and during our discussions, he expressed his desire to move to Libya for further experience and opportunities. As a Club, we didn’t want to impede his progress, and we appreciate his professionalism and discipline.

    "Although we will miss him, we believe this is a fantastic opportunity for him, and we would like to thank him for his dedicated service to Chiefs and wish him the best of luck in his new venture," Kaizer Motaung Jr. concluded.

    As Ditlhokwe gets a chance to play in North Africa and prove his worth, Chiefs smile all the way to the bank.

    However, a fraction of the profit might be invested in a new left-back after Nasreddine Nabi stated the available ones have not impressed him.
