    WHAT HAPPENED?

Reports have emerged that Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gaston Sirino has been undermining authority at the club.

According to FARPost and Soccer Laduma, Sirino has allegedly been faking injuries, refusing to train, and has been defying club protocol regarding medical procedures.

This comes as Sirino arrived at Chiefs with high hopes for him and sports lawyer Mpho Nkontlha has offered his legal views on the Uruguayan's situation amid the possibility of his contract being terminated.

  • WHAT WAS SAID ABOUT SIRINO

"According to Siya sources, the midfielder allegedly fakes injuries and refuses to train, only to return to action as matchday approaches. This pattern of behaviour has reportedly caused frustration within the Kaizer Chiefs camp, especially with head coach Nasreddine Nabi and the club's management, who expect a high level of professionalism from their players," a Soccer Laduma report read.

    WHAT NKONTLHA SAID

“Staying away from training sessions is a contractual breach. Disobeying the medical team’s instructions is also a breach,” Nkontlha told FARPost.

“Until we hear his side of the story, it would seem he is in the wrong, and the club would not be sanctioned for early termination.”

CHIEFS' REPONSE TO SIRINO MISCONDUCT REPORTS

Chiefs' corporate communications manager Vina Maphosa could not confirm or deny the allegations levelled against Sirino.

"I only do true or false on what we published on Chiefs media," Maphosa told GOAL.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

If reports about Sirino turn out to be true, they have the potential to demoralise the Amakhosi dressing room.

For a team desperate for unity in their camp and role-model senior players, the Sirino issue could disturb Nasreddine Nabi's efforts to build a solid squad.

Having been a fan favourite of not only Chiefs fans but South African football supporters rooting for him to be given a Bafana Bafana chance, it is to be seen if the former Sundowns star will remain a darling of fans.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SIRINO?

Sirino has not been at his best in recent Amakhosi games after starting the season on fire, threatening to singe-handedly carry the Soweto giants to winning trophies.

It is to be seen if he will be selected to play when Chiefs visit Polokwane City for Sunday's Premier Soccer League clash.
