    WHAT HAPPENED?

After finishing ninth and missing out on MTN8 qualification, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has once again stressed the importance of bringing in quality players to mount a serious challenge for top honours next season.

One name strongly linked with the Glamour Boys is Simba SC attacking midfielder Jean Charles Ahoua. Nabi has openly expressed his admiration for the Ivory Coast international, having travelled to Tanzania to watch him in action during a recent club assignment.

    WHAT NABI SAID?

"Yes, I have seen that Simba have a good team, but I was not very happy with their level. I think maybe because the League is about to end, they are tired, they are not excited," said Nabi as quoted by Soka la Bongo.

“Simba's players are good, but for me I am very impressed with the number 10 jersey (Ahoua). He is a good midfielder, he does things with confidence and his mind makes decisions quickly,” he ended.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

According to reports, Simba SC have set a substantial price tag on their Ivorian playmaker, making it clear they won’t let him go cheaply.

The club is believed to be demanding a transfer fee in the region of $600,000 (approximately R10.7 million) for his services.

    WHAT’S NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Amakhosi have begun their squad overhaul, parting ways with Njabulo Blom, who has returned to his parent club, and Ranga Chivaviro, whose contract was not renewed.

The pressure is on the club’s hierarchy to back coach Nabi with the necessary funds to bring in the players he needs to build a competitive team.
