    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi had a mixed debut in the South African football across competitions.

The Tunisian struggled in the Premier Soccer League, where the Glamour Boys finished ninth and missed making the MTN8.

However, he helped the Soweto giants win the Nedbank Cup, which is the club's first silverware after a decade.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The former AS FAR Rabat coach has reiterated the need to have quality players to enable him challenge for top honours next season.

One of the players heavily linked with the Glamour Boys is Simba SC attacking midfielder Jean Charles Ahoua.

The 23-year-old has 15 goals and eight assists in the Tanzanian Premier League, while his three goals helped Wekundu wa Msimbazi reach the Caf Confederation Cup final but lost to RS Berkane.

Nabi was in Tanzania to watch him in a recent club assignment, but reports have it that Simba have slapped a hefty price on the Ivorian's head.

    WHAT REPORTS SAID

"Nabi was here last month, and it's believed that he said he was after Feisal Salum from Azam FC as well as Jean Charles Ahoua from Simba SC," SNL24 reported.

"Kaizer Chiefs have shown keen interest in these two players. It will all depend on the talks now on which one they can sign, or if they sign both. But Nabi and another Chiefs official [Tera Maliwa] were here to look at those players last month.

"They are able to sell him. They are willing to sell him at the price they want. It's around $600,000 (R10.7 million). So Chiefs have to meet that if they really want him. That's how things are with Jean and Kaizer Chiefs," they concluded.
