    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane has opened up about how he feels as he starts his coaching role with Botswana's Matebele FC.

Yeye, as the retired midfielder is known, was appointed by the ambitious Botswana Premier League side, and as he settles into his first foreign job, he has admitted he is nervous.

It is understood that the 2010 World Cup finals star signed a two-year deal with the club.

    WHAT YEYE SAID

“Well, I’m a bit nervous, but very excited. I think it’s obviously because I’m in a space that makes me a little uncomfortable. So, it’s those nerves that have a mixture of happiness to be in such a space,” Letsholonyane told FARPost.

“But I’m settling in well. It’s a foreign country; however, it’s not bad for me because I’m somewhat familiar with it," he added.

"I believe this opportunity will be beneficial for my personal growth, as I’m joining a team that is highly ambitious and competes in a league that is growing every season. I want to contribute to the football of Botswana.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With the appointment by Matebele, the CAF A Licence holder has a stage to test his coaching capabilities on a different stage.

After working within South Africa, where he served as coach for AmaZulu's reserve team and also as an assistant coach for Bafana in the just-concluded CHAN finals, he has been offered an opportunity to sharpen himself elsewhere.

The 43-year-old has also worked as the South Africa U20 national team assistant coach, and this means he has the requisite experience to handle the Botswana top-flight side.

Currently, Yeye's side are 10th after three games where they managed a win and two defeats.
