    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs started this season with Fiacre Ntwari as the first-choice goalkeeper, followed by Brandon Petersen and currently Bruce Bvuma is their number one.

Former Amakhosi captain Itumeleng Khune, who also once contested for a place in the team with Petersen and Bvuma, feels that it is an unhealthy situation, and his remarks come shortly after criticising Bvuma for not taking his advice.

The 2010 World Cup goalkeeper has made recommendations on what the Soweto giants should look at when searching for a reliable custodian.

    WHAT KHUNE SAID

“After me, yes, they need to go get a goalkeeper that can give them straight 30 games in the league, that can play all the cups and even win cups for the club,” Khune told iDiski Times.

“A seasonal goalkeeper who can play all matches in a season. But now, what’s been happening, they’ve only played 24 games, but they’ve already used all their goalkeepers, and they are not consistent at all.

"Goalkeepers have been coming in, playing two, or three games and six, seven goals conceded, that’s not Kaizer Chiefs standard, unfortunately," the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper added.

“You need a goalkeeper who’s reliable, who is strong physically, mentally, emotionally, and that can carry the team and even inspire the team. But I haven’t seen that since the start of the season unfortunately, but in all fairness, yes, I’ve had my fair share. I’ve enjoyed every moment I’ve had with the club."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

However, Khune's sentiments can be disputed by the fact that coach Nabi appears to have found a goalkeeper he seems to trust in Bvuma.

Although leaky at times, Bvuma has been a regular, featuring in 17 Premier Soccer League games.

This comes as Ntwari has featured in 5 league matches while Petersen has three under his belt.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Ntwari reportedly wants out of Chiefs and that has sparked rumours that the club have reignited interest in Chippa United and Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

Getting Nwabali would be a move that could leave Chiefs being viewed as serious in the transfer market.
