    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs signed Christian Saile from Zambian outfit Nchanga Rangers midway through the 2022/23 season.

However, the attacker failed to have a desired impact at the club, struggling to score goals regularly.

In the January transfer window, he joined SuperSport United in a swap deal that involved Tashreeq Morris, who went the opposite direction.

Initially, it was thought the move was just a mere loan deal, but SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has revealed it is not the case.

    WHAT MATTHEWS SAID

“Saile’s move was permanent, we have options to extend to 2027/28 [season],” Matthews said as quoted by FARPost.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Saile settled instantly at the Swanky Boys, making vital contributions to the squad.

He was even on target for SuperSport in a 4-1 win against the Glamour Boys in the Premier Soccer League outing.

The second strike was against Golden Arrows in the 1-1 draw during the South African top-tier outing on February 23.

Since then, he hasn't found the back of the net nor provided an assist.

    WHAT NEXT?

Two goals in 12 games for SuperSport were not what was anticipated from the versatile attacker.

With the club in a promotion/relegation playoffs zone, the Congolese, alongside other players, have to step up to ensure they get out of that position.

They still have a chance of making the top eight by the end of the season if they get positive results consistently.
