    WHAT HAPPENED?

Peter Shalulile was deemed surplus to requirements by Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso.

Last season, the Portuguese tactician favoured an attack made up of Iqraam Rayners, Arthur Sales, and Lucas Ribeiro.

In most cases, the Namibia international came in as a late substitute or even failed to feature.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

A couple of weeks ago, Shalulile was determined to leave the defending Premier Soccer League champions for Tunisian heavyweights Esperance

However, things didn't work out as all the parties may have wished, and the 31-year-old returned to South Africa, to his club, Sundowns.

The striker has since revealed where it went wrong for him.

    WHAT SHALULILE SAID

“For now, I won’t lie to you guys. I’m back,”  he told the Masandawana media team

“Things didn’t go well. We were discussing and negotiating about paperwork and all that.

" But I decided to call the chairman and I told him, rather let me come back and enter my experience and fight for my position," Shalulile concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Shalulile is currently the all-time top scorer in the PSL competitions, having scored 130 goals, one more than Siyabonga Nomvethe.

Having gotten another chance in Mzansi, Shalulile will definitely be pushing for more goals; as a matter of fact, he has set a target of 25 strikes in the 2025/26 campaign.
