    WHAT HAPPENED?

With Mamelodi Sundowns' Peter Shalulile highly linked with Esperance, the amount of money the Tunisian giants are ready to splash to acquire the attacker has been revealed.

According to FARPost, Esperance have tabled R13 million [$750,000] for Shalulile, but the Premier Soccer League giants have reportedly asked for R16 million [$950,000].

Esperance are said to be willing to meet Sundowns' asking price, but a new twist is said to have emerged as the striker is pushing for a lower transfer fee. By reducing the potential transfer fee that Sundowns can get, Shalulile's personal package with Esperance will increase.

    WHAT IS MORE

Shalulile has been in his home country after leaving the club's camp before the MTN8 tournament started, but he is reportedly set to travel back to South Africa to finalise the Esperance transfer.

Although his contract with the Tshwane giants ended in the previous season, the club exercised the one-year extension option they had.

Esperance, home to Bafana Bafana's star Elias Mokwana, are said to be highly interested in bringing Shalulile on board as soon as possible before the new campaign starts.

However, reports emerged that Shalulile's arrival in Tunis could push Mokwana out, with rumours stating that the South African will move to Europe.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Shalulile, since he joined Downs from Highlands Park in 2020, has been a key player for Masandawana. The Namibian has scored 128 goals in the league, and this is just one goal shy of matching Siyabonga Nomvethe’s all-time record.

Trophy-wise, he has lifted five league titles, the MTN8, the Nedbank Cup, and the inaugural African Football League [AFL].

However, his place at the club became uncertain, especially with the arrival of Iqraam Rayners.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SHALULILE?

With the exit signal becoming clearer, it could be a matter of days before Sundowns announce that the Namibian has left.

The rumours around his future intensify almost every day, with another Sundowns prized asset, Lucas Ribeiro, also linked with an exit.
