    WHAT HAPPENED?

Bafana Bafana are scheduled to play Uganda and South Sudan, respectively in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Hugo Broos-led team will start with Group K leaders in Kampala on Friday, November 15 before hosting the Bright Stars four days later.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Tau is among the top players who will miss the two vital matches including Themba Zwane and Lyle Foster, who were forced out owing to injuries.

Broos has now pointed out he decided against including the 30-year-old Al Ahly attacker because of his game-time struggles at the club level.

A couple of months ago, Tau was said to be on his way out of the club after reportedly falling out with manager Marcel Kohler.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns player is in the final year of his contract with the Egyptian champions and the Belgian insists Tau must consider changing clubs to improve his chances.

    WHAT BROOS SAID

“You know Percy Tau doesn't play anymore. He's always on the bench,” Broos said when naming his squad.

“I said two months ago the environment at Al Ahly is not positive. They wanted to sell him. Then you have the critics on social media who were not happy with his performances at Bafana.

“I don't think it's the right moment for Percy to be with Bafana but it doesn't mean he will never come back again," added the 2017 Afcon-winning coach with Cameroon.

“I hope he can change clubs. I hope he can be in a more positive environment and produce the performances we expect from him.”

    WHAT NEXT?

Tau is one of the talented players in Mzansi, but age is catching up with him.

The attacker has no option but to get a place where he can get more playing time considering the fact that he has a few years left before hanging up his boots.
