Fresh injury concern hits Kaizer Chiefs as Cedric Kaze gives update on Glody Lilepo ahead of Durban City showdown

    Chiefs hit with injury fear

    Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze has provided the latest update concerning injury fears for striker Glody Lilepo.

    The DR Congo striker is feared to have been injured during their match against AS Simba in the Confederation Cup on Sunday.

    Kaze optimistic

    “We will have to discuss with the doctor, but it was a knock which I think shouldn’t be very bad because if it were a muscle injury, that would be another issue,” Kaze told the media.

    “If it’s a knock, probably one or two days with ice; I think he should be ready to go on Friday against Durban City.”

    Lilepo was a key figure in the first half as Chiefs played and finally defeated Simba to book a slot in the Confederation Cup's group stage.

    He scored the third goal and provided an assist for Ighodaro's goal, but he did not return for the second half, as Pule Mmodi was brought on.

    His partnership with Ighodaro showed signs of a lethal combination; however, the injury concerns might sideline him, although Kaze is hopeful it is not a serious case.

    Should Lilepo be unavailable, and while Khanyisa Mayo remains a doubt after missing the AS Simba game, the technical bench will be forced to use Tashreeq Morris, who has fallen down the pecking order.

    Durban City lie ahead for Chiefs

    After making history in the Confederation Cup, Chiefs will be back in Premier Soccer League action.

    They have been scheduled to play Durban City on Friday.

0
