    WHAT HAPPENED?

Siyabonga Ngezana has been enjoying a purple patch with Romanian giants FCSB and was last week named Defender of the Year by major sports publication Fanatik.

The Bafana Bafana centre-back has also been the subject of transfer rumours and he has picked the countries he wishes to play in.

    WHAT NGEZANA SAID

“I made sacrifices to become the best,” Ngezana said, as per iDiski Times.

“Leaving my family at home was not an easy decision to make. I went through a tough time at first.

“It’s a big achievement for me just to come here and play in Europe and win something. It means a lot, but I can’t say it’s enough.

“I still have dreams to achieve. I want to play in Germany, France, England, and Spain.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

While Ngezana has expressed his ambitions to move to a bigger league, his agent has already said interest in the defender continues to grow.

A move to a highly-regarded league will help Ngezana maintain his place in the Bafana Bafana setup, also provided he keeps on enjoying some game time.

This comes as South Africa are still bidding to qualify for the 2026 Fifa World Cup and will also be at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

    WHAT NEXT FOR NGEZANA?

It remains to be seen if the former Chiefs defender will be able to make a move in January or his agent will wait for the European summer.

In the meantime, his focus is on helping FCSB when they host CS Universitatea Craiova in the Romanian Cup on Wednesday.
