    WHAT HAPPENED?

The Bafana Bafana international is set to part ways with Egyptian Premier League champions Al Ahly.

After reportedly falling out with his manager Marcel Kohler, the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has played just 11 minutes this season for the Red Devils.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Premier Soccer League side Kaizer Chiefs are among the teams that have been linked with the experienced attacker.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena has always admired Tau even before leaving Masandawana for Wydad Athletic Club.

Tau's situation got worse as Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos left him out of his team to play Uganda and South Sudan in back-to-back 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Egypt legend Ahmed Hossam Mido has advised Al Ahly rivals Zamalek to go for Tau.

    WHAT MIDO SAID

“I would welcome Percy Tau’s presence at Zamalek. Tau is a great player with great experience and knows the Egyptian league well," he told on On Time Sports.

    WHAT NEXT?

At 30, Tau's next contract will be vital as it will be his last long term agreement as a premium player.

He is still a quality player who can add bring an attacking threat to any team that might sign him.

However, he should consider his legacy with South African football fans who he has had, at times, a strained relationship with.

A move back to the PSL would allow local fans to see the winger in action week in, week out, and that would likely go some way to winning the hearts and minds of Mzansi.
