    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates have rejected reports linking their in-demand forward Relebohile Mofokeng to Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.

On Wednesday, media reports emerged that Eindhoven had tabled R100 million for the 20-year-old.

The rumours also indicated that the Eredivisie side had switched their interest to Mofokeng even though they were earlier interested in Mamelodi Sundowns' Iqraam Rayners.

"We wish to place it on record that no such offer has been received by the club. The claims made are not only false but also irresponsible and damaging," the Pirates statement regarding the rumours said.

"This type of reporting is not only misleading to the public but also serves as an unnecessary distraction aimed at unsettling both the player and the club at a critical juncture in our preparations for the upcoming season," the club's statement added.

"Orlando Pirates remain committed to the well-being of our players and will continue to act in their best interests. We call upon all media outlets to refrain from publishing unverified reports that seek to create instability for the sake of clicks."

He will contest the Premier Soccer League Footballer of the Season, the Premiership Player’s Player of the Season, the Young Player of the Season and the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament categories.
