    WHAT HAPPENED?

Abdeslam Ouaddou has begun his job as Orlando Pirates coach after recently being appointed to that role.

Coming from Marumo Gallants, where there was less pressure, he inherits a team that won five Cup finals in the last three seasons and reached the semi-final of the CAF Champions League last season.

Former Pirates defender Ntsikelelo Nyauza talks about what it takes to coach the Buccaneers.

    WHAT NYAUZA SAID

"Orlando Pirates is a big organisation," Nyauza told Soccer Laduma.

"I saw coaches come and go. If you were there for a long time, that's when you also learn that when you are a coach at Pirates, this is what you need to do or need to learn.

"At Pirates you need to have a backbone as a coach and you have to cooperate with management."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Ouaddou is already busy in the transfer market and has brought in nine new players to Pirates.

That appears to be a new start and a hint that he will be doing things differently from his predecessor Jose Riveiro.

The former Morocco international will be scrutinised if he would be able to help the Buccaneers win the Premier Soccer League and the Champions League.

    WHAT NEXT FOR OUADDOU?

With the transfer window being a long way from closing, there is a possibility that Ouaddou will bring in more players.

But for now, his focus is on instilling his methods and system of play in his team before the new season starts.
