    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Orlando Pirates and Baroka FC star Marshall Munetsi has joined Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 28-year-old beat the transfer deadline day, following some transfer speculation around him, to join Wolves from Ligue 1 outfit Stade Reims.

Wolves are a club where Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng once underwent trials in 2023.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Munetsi becomes the second Zimbabwean player to be in Wolves' books after striker Tawanda Chirewa.

Chirewa was on target when the Warriors faced Bafana Bafana in a 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier in Bloemfontein in June 2024.

However, Chirewa has been loaned out to League One side Huddersfield Town.

“Obviously, Tawanda messaged me as soon as he saw the news," said Munetsi on Wolves' website.

"He was so excited, so at least now he's going to have his big brother there. So, it was very good."

    WHAT NEXT FOR MUNETSI?

Munetsi joins an under-pressure Wolves who have lost four of their last five Premier League games.

However, they won their last match against Aston Villa and the former Pirates star could make his Wolves debut in an FA Cup match against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
