    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, a Premier League club, have reportedly reached an agreement with Ligue 1 team Stade Reims over midfielder Marshall Munetsi.

    The ex-Orlando Pirates defender-come-midfielder has established himself as a key player at the French club, and his outstanding performances are believed to have attracted the attention of Wolves.

    According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Wolves and Reims have finalized an agreement that will see Munetsi joining the English side.

  • WHAT WAS SAID

    "Agreement in principle between Reims and Wolverhampton for Marshall Munetsi. Transfer of around €20M (around R390 million)," said the journalist.

    "The Rémois want to find a replacement for him before letting him go."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Munetsi played for Premier Soccer League heavyweights Pirates from 2016 to 2019, however, he also spent some time on loan at Baroka FC.

    The 28-year-old Zimbabwe International joined the Buccaneers from FC Cape Town in 2016. Munetsi eventually moved from the Sea Robbers to Reims in 2019 and has not looked back since.

    Should he go on to join Wolves, Munetsi will be playing in the same country as his former Pirates teammate, Lyle Foster, who is playing for EFL Championship side Burnley.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MUNETSI?

    It remains to be seen whether Munetsi will seal the deal with Wolverhampton which would be his dream move. 

    The Premier League transfer window will close at midnight on Monday, February 3.
