    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Qatar SC wanted to sign a winger who could replace Bafana Bafana vice-captain Percy Tau. 

    The former Al Ahly winger joined the Qatari outfit for a short term following his exit from the Egyptian champions. 

    Tau had been signed to help the team avoid relegation, and he played his part to ensure the club's top-tier status was retained.

    Mamelodi Sundowns star Lucas Ribeiro was identified as Tau's replacement at the club, but the club eventually pulled out after failing to agree with Masandawana. 

    Ribeiro has since been forcing a move out of the club, but it seems things are not working to his favour. 

    Qatar SC have since moved on and are close to completing a deal for Yokohama F. Marinos attacker Yan Mateus.

    The attacker has since confirmed he is leaving.

    As it seems, Ribeiro might end up licking his wounds and staying put since he is still contracted to Mamelodi Sundowns.

    He is a star player who has been missed in the last six games the Brazilians have played across all competitions.

    The next assignment for Masandawana will be on Wednesday against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium.
