    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs beat Mamelodi Sundowns to reach the Nedbank Cup final, where they will meet Orlando Pirates.

Fresh from that famous win, they now visit Chippa United for Saturday's Premier Soccer League match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

A point separates eighth-placed Chiefs and Chippa, who are ninth on the table, although the Chilli Boys have played two games fewer.

The Chilli Boys coach Thabo September talks about his plan to get the better of buoyant Amakhosi on Saturday.

    WHAT SEPTEMBER SAID

"Since the two teams are so close on the log table, I view this as a six-pointer," September told KickOff.

"We will strive to win on Saturday, and I've instructed my players to focus more on our own performance rather than on Kaizer Chiefs.

"We need to concentrate on continuing our good form. We didn't concede in our last game and have only allowed one goal in our last three matches, so we should maintain that defensive strength.

"We need to capitalise on our opportunities when they arise. I expect a confident and highly motivated Kaizer Chiefs team, especially after they qualified for Caf and secured a spot in the Nedbank Cup final," added the former SuperSport United defender.

"Our chances of finishing in the top eight this season are promising, as we are two games behind Kaizer Chiefs, who currently occupy 8th place. The players are embracing this challenge, which is great for us."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chiefs would be hoping the win over Sundowns is a stepping stone to build on and finish the season on a high.

It was a victory that has the potential to instil confidence in Nasreddine Nabi's men, who have been struggling for consistency this term.

With Amakhosi having six PSL games left to play, they still have chances to finish the campaign in the top three, although that is largely dependent on other teams.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

The Soweto giants could play continental football next season should they finish third on the table or win the Nedbank Cup.

That presents hope that there is still a lot to play for after a difficult season for Chiefs.
