    Snubbed

Cedric Kaze has broken his silence after former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi snubbed him in his farewell message.

When Nabi's departure was officially confirmed, the Tunisian sent his farewell message, but Kaze was conspicuously missing. Did it affect him? The Burundian has responded and revealed what he told his former boss.

“About the letter, I don’t have any comment," Kaze told the media on Monday.

“I worked with Nabi for three seasons, and I wish him well. I told him that, and I hope that he will find something that suits him in the near future. And I wish him all the best," he added.

    Optimism

Regarding the players' belief in their abilities, Kaze said there is a sense of optmisim at Naturena.

“The players believe in what we are building. Everyone is optimistic. We’re proud to be leading a club like Kaizer Chiefs," he added.

When you see some comments on social media, you’d think everyone is a coach and has an opinion on who should play and who shouldn’t. We know what you’re doing. We have experience… we know the tricks of Africa… We know that we can achieve big things.”

Nabi leaves, Kaze and Youssef in charge

When Chiefs confirmed that they parted ways with the former Young Africans head coach, they stated that his assistants - Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef - will be in charge of the club until this season ends.

Youssef was also not named in Nabi's farewell letter, as the latter went on to glowingly mention all those he worked with at the club.

Nabi and Kaze worked together in Tanzania - where they enjoyed successful stints with Young Africans - before they left for South Africa.

Nabi was in charge for the 2024/25 season and before a brief stint in the ongoing campaign. Although Nabi helped Amakhosi end a decade-long trophy drought, he faced constant criticism for how Chiefs performed in the Premier Soccer League.

Retaining the Nedbank Cup and doing well in both the CAF Confederation Cup and in the PSL should be the top priority for Kaze and Youssef.
