    WHAT HAPPENED?

Magesi FC won the Carling Knockout after beating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the final on Saturday and a number of their players were impressive in their campaign.

Former Orlando Pirates forward Jerry Sikhosana, who scored the decisive goal in the 1995 Caf Champions League final, has identified a striker he believes can solve Kaizer Chiefs' problems upfront as their strikers have been struggling for goals.

    WHAT SIKHOSANA SAID

“Kaizer Chiefs should be looking at a striker like Wonderboy Makhubu,” Sikhosana told FARPost.

“To me, he’s a prolific striker. It’s about scoring goals and his overall contribution as a striker. He draws the attention of defences and creates opportunities for his teammates to score. He’s that kind of a player for me.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Over the years, Chiefs have been struggling to sign strikers who become prolific for them even after being in top form for their former clubs.

If they pursue Makhubu, they would be hoping he will not become another flop at Naturena.

The Magesi star has so far scored two goals in five Premier Soccer League games and has no goal in four Carling Knockout appearances.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

The January PSL player transfer window will see Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi in the market searching for a striker.

It remains to be seen if they will consider Makhubu as a possible new signing or look for talent elsewhere.
