    WHAT HAPPENED?

Polokwane City's standout player, Oswin Appollis, has finally opened up about his unsuccessful transfer to Kaizer Chiefs in the last winter transfer window.

The 23-year-old winger was strongly linked with a move to the Soweto giants, as Amakhosi had officially expressed their interest in him.

Nevertheless, the agreement between Amakhosi and Rise and Shine for the star player failed to materialise due to his team playing elusive games throughout the period.

    WHAT APPOLLIS SAID

"Yes, because at the end of the day, there’s nothing I can do but stay focused. My job is just to work hard for the club, and if I then get interest, or get an opportunity to represent the country, it’s down to me to do the hard work,'' Appollis told iDiski Times.

"There’s nothing I can do. And I’m at Polokwane now and I’m happy. No, at Polokwane, it was a very good move. It helped me also going to the PSL. Moving from Pretoria Callies to Polokwane gave me the opportunity to represent the national team because if they didn’t sign me, I might maybe still be at Pretoria Callies.

"So, Polokwane played a vital role in me going to the national team, and I appreciate what they did. And for this new season, I just want to continue working hard and working hard for the team. And we’ll see where we go from there."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Appollis impressed with captivating performances last season, catching the attention of teams such as Esperance de Tunis from Tunisia, MC Alger from Algeria, and the current champions of PSL, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The ex-Pretoria Callies standout's displays over the past two seasons have secured him a consistent spot in the Bafana Bafana lineup under the guidance of Hugo Broos.

Furthermore, the young player who honed his skills at the SuperSport United academy, will be hoping to secure a move in the upcoming January transfer window, as reports suggest that Chiefs are still monitoring his progress.
